Ok so I technically received my package on November 10th, but I'm a little slow in getting the pictures up. Its been a little hectic around the castle with the end of term and all. But here it is! I appologize for the bad photos, my muggle camera was giving me some trouble.

Dueling Club

So the 2nd round of dueling club started yesterday. I've been so busy dodging spells from Minerva Wood of Ravenclaw house that I almost didn't get away to blog today. But now here I am...

My socks are progressing nicely, the leg is done of the first one and I've knit the heel and turned it. Now I just need to finish the gusset, foot and toe tonight and I'll be ready for sock number two tomorrow. Either way its going to come down to the owls. My Serenity is fast and swift so I hope she'll make it there quickly. The yarn is quite lovely. Its going to be very hard to see it go, but it is a destash.

Anywhoo, I'm going back to continue dodging spells from Minerva. I'm determined to win!

Picture Day!

Today is picture day! That's me in the center. This photo was taken in Italy back in March. The others in the photo are my coaches and 2 of my teammates. We were there for one of those muggle marathons. The picture was taken outside of the Maratona Expo, where we picked up our race bibs. It was an awesome trip and I wish I could've spent more time and seen more of Italy, but work called me back home to the states...maybe I should move to Italy...

Owl's Away!

I've sent my owl, Serenity, off to Buffalo, New York to greet Laeita with a rather large package. I do hope she has a safe trip as I know the weather has been a little off in the middle of the states. Not to mention the package I sent her off with was rather heavy. Over 7 pounds! I hope Laeita likes the goodies I've enclosed in her package.

Now if I can just find out the status of my dueling club package...Lucretia was quite the opponent but I'm hoping I'm not dead yet.

Happy 4th of July Weekend!

In American muggle land, yesterday was the 4th of July. Unfortunately it was so foggy in San Francisco that I was unable to see any fireworks. I had to watch them on muggle television. Oh well such is life.

I've spent this weekend putting the finishing touches on my spoilee's package. I will be shipping it out on Monday. I hope she likes it!

Anywhoo, I must run to the owlery so I can get my dueling socks sent off. Each round of dueling club just keeps getting tougher and tougher.

A Busy Week

While I was in the infirmary with Madam Pomfrey recovering from my illness, I took some time to catch up on some reading about vampires and werewolves. It was extremely interesting reading and I look forward to reading more at a later date. I also had time to work on the socks started from the yarn I received in my last swap kit from Ferula Vector. They're almost done, just need to finish up the leg on the second sock. I'll be sure to post pictures once they're complete. I've also been working on the journal for my spoilee this term. Its progressing nicely and I might post a teaser picture up a little later. I sure hope she likes it. I put in the order for the rest of her goodies this morning so hopefully they should be here soon. I'm really enjoying putting her kit together and I hope she likes it a lot.

I also won the first round of the sock duel. Now onto the second round!

The Term Begins

Whooo what a week...between classes and getting signed up for dueling club, I haven't had much time to be up to mischief. I will need to do some brushing up on my dueling. I see my housemates however have not wasted anytime getting into trouble. Cass has developed some new type of candy to trick the first years with and I've heard there's been some mischief in the other dorms. And worst yet, Cass has a Crucio List! Lets just say I'm gonna try to stay off of that!

Speaking of dorms, let me introduce you to my dormmates. There's Ceciley Fortescue, Ariande Malfoy and Andromeda Finch-Fletchley. Together we are the Sultry Sirens of Slytherin. They're all first years so this should make for an interesting term.

Has anyone seen the new DADA professor...he's hott...no wonder Wisteria was hanging all over him.

A New Term Begins

I've recently arrived back at Hogwarts for my second term. It's great to see old friends as well as the first years milling about the halls. We've got quite a full house this term.

I was one of the lucky 2nd year students to be able to get an Inter-House Unity Scholarship. She told me she would like me to be able to experience other houses to spread unity among them. Picking which house to join for this term, however, was quite a challenge. I seriously considered joining Ravenclaw, but I ran into Professor Snape in the hallway. He really wanted me to join Slytherin house and let me know that many of my former Gryffindor housemates had decided to join Slytherin house. Well...I just couldn't resist...I've always wanted to know what the dark side was like.

I'm also on very good terms with the prefect for Slytherin house. Tee hee....I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I caused a little mischief this term.

Whew...What a Trip

Well I've safely made it back from Italy. My bottom was quite tired and sore from the long trip on my broomstick, but it was well worth it. I completed my muggle marathon, was one of the last few people to finish, but I finished it and that's all that matters. And when I got back to Hogwarts a few days ago, look at what was waiting for me:

There were all sorts of great goodies in there: 2 patterns (including one for a toe-up sock I've been wanting to try), 2 skeins Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Flame (one of my favoritest sock yarns), some beautiful handmade stitch markers, a set of KnitPicks Harmony Wood DPNs, some Bertie Botts Beans and various other types of goodies :-). And it all came in a French Market Bag. Thanks so much Ferula, it was a great suprise to come home to and I absolutely love it!

I can't believe I'll be flying off on my broomstick next Wednesday to Italy where I'll be completing my first muggle marathon. I've come a long way since last November when I started off training at 2 miles. I made my way up to 22 miles and on race day it'll be 26.2! And no, I won't be using any magic to help me in the race. I will compete just as all the muggles do, by using my good ol' legs. Wish me luck!

Things have been soooo busy this week. I'm training to complete a muggle marathon and my race is 2 weeks away! Takes a loooot of my time. I did send an owl to my spoilee, I hope she likes it! More blogging next week!

My First Trip to Hogsmeade

Last weekend was my first trip to Hogsmeade. It was amazing! My first stop was in the Weasley's new shop to pick up some mischievious items. I'm not telling what they are... I then stopped by HoneyDukes where I ran into Cassandra and Penelope. They were tricking a muggle born first year eat a vomit flavored jelly bean. Poor girl, she clearly didn't know what it was they were giving her. Her face told the tale. Anyway, after buying some candy in the shop, I headed over to The Three Broomsticks to have some butterbeer. Madame Rosmerta makes the best butterbeer. I don't know how she does it (and maybe I don't want to). After I got quite sloshed, I heard Professor Black calling for our return. So I stood up...and promptly greeted the floor. With some help of the others I managed to stand and hobble myself back to school. Needless to say I passed out in my bed soon after my return. I don't think I'll be drinking that much butterbeer again!

My Wand Has Finally Arrived!

My poor owl finally delivered my wand to me today. I guess she got stuck in a bad storm trying to make it here to Hogwarts. Her feathers were blown every which way. But the important thing is that she made it here before we got too far into classes. It would've been horrible to have to go several more days without it.

Since I got my wand, I decided to try a few spells with it. I really wanted to see a Patronus charm, and see what form mine would take. Now, generally, first years are unable to perform this spell as it is very advanced magic. But I figured if Harry could learn to do it at such a young age, I should be able to get it. It took quite a few tries, but I found the right thought and was able to cast it. And guess what it turned out to be...

Pretty cool huh? I'm still pretty proud of myself for being able to make it take a full form. The first few times it was just some fog. Now, I must run, for I'll be late to class if I don't. I did manage to squeeze in a little knitting time last night after homework. But my classes have me completely swamped...who would know that learning magic would be so much hard work!

The feast last night was great. I met quite a few other students and my spoiler was there, but unfortunately I didn't see my spoilee. We were all drooling over our new Potions and DADA professors. I had to duck out early, so I'm afraid I missed quite a bit. When I checked back in everyone had retired. I look forward to the next big gathering.

Welcome to my Stead!

Hello! I'm Lily of Flitwick and I'm a first year Gryffindor. I'm excited about getting started with classes. I'm sure I'll get through them no problem. Except for maybe DADA...the professor could be a bit of a distraction.

My first owl came on Friday night with my swap partner for HSKS4. She's a first year Ravenclaw. I was so excited that I took a trip to Diagon Alley yesterday and picked up the supplies for her bag and anticipate beginning it tonight after I finish my homework.

Speaking of which, I should get going so I can get started on that homework.
